Hey guys im new to the whole audio world , and i found this vintage nikko alpha 1 540 watt amp. I want that to power my front speakers sepretly i have an rca jack from the amp to the area that says pre out from front and left. but im not sure if its doing any thing there is a red light on the amp but there is no power button on it. although the amp does get warm. so do you guys think i have it hooked up right ?

You hooked it up right.

What happens if you take the RCA plugs out of the receiver and touch the center live pin of the plug with your finger. You should get a buzz from each speaker in turn as you touch the prong. If not that amp is likely dead.

You could also try and connect another source to your amp.

That amp dates from 1977.

If you have your speakers connected to that external amp and they are making noise, then it's working.
