Well I got it and set it up last night.

Holy Crepe, that subwoofer is too large and powerfull for me.

Right... just kidding. I love it. Turned it up halfway and in some of the heavier bass scenes from the matrix it literally felt like an earthquake in my apartment. I don't think the guys below me would be too happy with that setting. But hey, I loved it.

Now I just have to... get the rest up to par. Any recommendations on speakers? And since I just blew all of this months spending money on the sub, I have to wait until july to buy speakers :( And then of course school starts soon after and I make lots less money and have to save up for the next year to get the tv that goes along with it. Woe is me.
You could try buying a, Auralex SubDude Subwoofer Isolation Riser, it works great, makes the bass sound tighter and the person downstairs will love you. :D

Gid,

What speakers are you currently using? Do you need something to tie you over for a few years, or do you plan on going all out in July? Jaxvon, a college student and popular member here, went with some affordable Venturi speakers and a HSU sub. They run just over $100 a pair for bookshelves, and $100 or so for the center. You can put a nice Venturi surround system together for cheap unless you have a larger budget available. I had a pair of DV62si bookshelves, and was very impressed with the sound for the size back in the 80's. Amazon usually carries good deals on them.
The speakers I'm using right now... um... well... they are the speakers that came with a $300 Stereo System I bought back in... 9th grade. Sharp. Oh yeah baby. I'm listening to some music right now and, well, the sub sounds wonderful. The speakers, not so much.

Anyway I don't really want to buy something that I won't use for more than a couple years. I'd rather spend a little more and get better quality stuff. But at this point, I really do mean little :p Moral of the story is, but the time I want to be buying new stuff I will probably be married and not as able to, if you know what i'm saying.
So I want something good that will take care of me for a long time to come.

Now aren't you glad you didn't settle for a weak $150 sub?:p
You have no idea how glad I am. Only problem is now I have to deal with everyone screaming "you spend HOW MUCH?!" My brother decided to argue with me over how stupid i was to spend that much. He was telling me I should put the money into a dvd changer. Or at least a better reciever (When I bought my reciever I wasn't planning on building a nice system, just something that did the job.) And another funny note. The place that he told to get one from told me that their cheapest model was.. how much you ask... 600. Nice.

On another note, a buddy of mine and I watched Black Hawk Down the other night. I was way too tired to be watching it, but way too interested in hearing the sub in a movie i was watching to go to bed. Anyway I would nod off and then some explosion would go off and I would literally be shaken awake and jump up fearing for my life. It was great!
