Hello audio gods!

First time poster here with what must be a simple issue that has completely dumbfounded me.

I have a mac mini connected to an HDMI input on my VSX-21TXH. For audio, I have an analog stereo cable that is plugged into the headphone jack in the back of the mac. The cable spits into two compononent(?) cables, one white, the other red. I've plugged them into the CD input of the receiver. When I choose CD, I can hear the audio, but no picture. If I select HDMI 3, I see the computer image, but no sound. How do I link these two together so I can get both audio and video from separate inputs at the same time? I've looked at the input setup documentation on page 43 of the manual, but it doesn't seem to work/make any sense to me - when I select the HDMI input all of the audio options are greyed out.

Any help would be muchly appreciated. Thank you very much!

Best,

Steven

Hi steve.

Using the mac`s analog out is a tertiary option. Ideally you want to mess around in your mac`s audio OUT software and have it use HDMI digital out and allow the receiver to decode the information.

I`m not familiar enough with Pioneer receivers to walk you through the latter option (analog audio input and digital video input) but my recommendation is to try to get the mac to send digital audio through the HDMI.
