Sealed sub recommendations?

Will primarily be used with music and would like to have a sealed sub. Anyone have suggestions around or under the $500 range?

Velodyne makes good lineup of sealed subs although I don't know if they have one in your price range.

is there a reason for the sealed choice? I like sealed subs but in that price range there are spl limitations, just curious.

I'm looking for sealed type because my room is pretty small so I'm not too concerned about SPL, and I just want accurate tight sounding bass almost solely for listening to music. Are sealed types that much more expensive than ported? I guess I could be willing to spend a bit more, but I'm a college student so less is always better :)

Quality sealed subs will most likely cost more than $500. I have a Martin Logan Dynamo, the cheapest ML sub. Retail price is about $700. If you have some wood working skills and tools, your best bet is a DIY Rythmic servo sub. It will best commercial sealed subs costing more.

The Dynamo looks pretty interesting...how do you like it?

Your reasoning for wanting a sealed subwoofer is the same for wanting a ported.

Unless you're under extreme space restraints, get a ported subwoofer.

I like very much. $350, what I paid for it, was a fair price. I wouldn't recommend it at $700 though.
