Screwing down floorstanding speakers

I need to secure my tall, skinny floorstanding speakers to prevent tipping by children. The speakers are adequately stable with the included carpet spikes, but could be dangerous to children or a/v equipment if knocked or pulled over.

Any suggestions?

I am considering bolting a metal or wood strip to the existing floor spike holes and then screwing the strip through the carpet to the subfloor.

Does anyone have any other recommendations or alternatives?

If they are close enough to back walls, a small, light cable could be secured to the top of each speaker and then to the wall. Because of the leverage by connecting to the top you can use a smaller cable and a small screw in the top back pf the speakers. You have the wrong leverage if you connect to the bottom and will need huge screws.

LOL thanks for the old memories of kid proofing a house over 20 or so years ago.
