My celing height is 94". Width of area for a screen is 72". The bottom of the screen can't be any lower than 26" from the floor. The top of the screen can't be any higher than 68" from the floor. Is an 84" diagonal screen going to work for me? Any constructive comments are appreciated.
PJ throw will be ~14' and PJ height will be ~45" from the floor.

We kind of need to know what your PJ is.

Most of your questions can be answered with the projection calculator at Projector Central. Just go there, search for your projector, use the projection calculator for your projector and input your throw distance. It has sliders that can pretty much tell you everything about the possible screen sizes.

The projector's height from the floor doesn't really matter as long as it has positive and negative vertical lens shift. If it is a Sony XSRD PJ then it won't have any negative lens shift so it will need to be mounted below the center of the screen if it is upright on a shelf, or above the center of the screen if it is ceiling mounted upside down.

Do those limitations take the frame into account? If not you'll have to go smaller. Even so, the width on an 84" dia., 16:9 AR is 73". If a 3" frame is taken into account, you're looking at about a 73" dia. With a 2" frame it's about 77" dia. If this is a pull-down type screen, the case needs to be taken into account and more research is required.

I appreciate the input. I am saving up for a Panny 2000. Hope to have by next April. I'll probably use a pull-down screen.

AA, I keep saying the same thing when these things come up, and I would like to repeat my advice in this thread as well.

Just get the PJ first.

Then what I always say is fire it at the blank wall. However, in your case, from the little I remember, I would use some spare bed sheet or something to tack up, and fire on that. Maybe fold over excess length of sheet, pinned to itself for better "accuracy".

While its a little annoying to wait those extra few days to order the screen, and it does take just a little more work, the surety you gain will be well worth it, IMO.
