scratched disc's

i tried watching WINTERS BONE, tonight. it kept pixelating, so i missed about 1/3 of the movie.

i check the disc's before i put em in, clean as needed. this one needed a little cleaning. but otherwise looked real good. after it started messing up a lot, i took it out and looked REAL CLOSE. there were some REALLY small scratches on it.
i have had disc's that had a LOT of easier to see scratches on it (maybe because there were sooo many of them), and they played fine.

my questions :
just how bad does a scratch have to be to mess up play ?
is there a way to get them out ? i will spend some money on this.

Funny, my first Netflix bluray issue, ever, was exactly with this title. I now go see the title thread, and you've posted the same thing there. You will see my post regarding my issue a few posts above yours over there.

so i am thinking that it was a defective disc. i am going to take it to my fil's and put it in his machine.

if IRON MAN 2 does this, tonight. i am going to be PISSED !!!

Blu-ray discs are coated with an additional layer that is much more scratch resistant than DVDs. IMO, I have not received a BD from Netflix that was scratched so far. I have received at least 2 BDs that wouldn't play and having multiple players, I was able to test them and got the same thing so there are either some bad discs out there or there are some problem titles.

I had similar issues with a brand new disc, Inception, towards the beginning. It went away and was fine. Then after it was over, I looked at the disc, rubbed it over my teeshirt and played just fine over the same passages the second time around.
I guess it is one of those hit and miss thing.
