I happen to really like Direct Tv, I've gotten two free HD receivers from them, service has been very good. In the last two hurricanes we've had (barring power loss) we never lost service. My buds with COmcast were out 8 and 12 days(even when power was restored). As soon as we got power, there was sat. tv. I'll never go back to cable.

We have Dishnetwork. Had normal sat for 2 years and just upgraded to HD. Service is great. Not sure how it compares to DirecTV as I've never seen it, but we have been very happy with our Dishnetwork HD DVR.

I have Dish, and their HD package has over 30 channels (they bought the defunct VOOM HD network.) I understand Direct is going to "soon" have more HD offerings, but for now, Dish is the top dog.

I have DirecTV and have been very happy with them. I just had my HD dish replaced and the technician said that the service will soon upgrade to 158+ channels of HD but he did not know when.

Depends a lot on what you like to watch. For sports, DirecTV is generally the leader in HD. If you prefer other stuff (concerts, outdoors, general interest), Dish Network has the Voom channels that have a lot of cool stuff.

I'd recommend going here: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/

Look towards the bottom and they have a link to a site called DBStalk.com. They can answer just about any question you have there.

I have Dish, myself. The 622 is a sweet HD-DVR, however it has it's bugs. Overall, i'm happy with them. Picture quality is very good.
