The new Sanus Elements ELM803 In-Wall Low Voltage Box provides 56" cubic inches of space behind your new wall mounted flat panel. Of course, the box provides a triangular space in your wall that is a total of 2.5" deep so don't be confused by the cubic measurement - not all of that will be usable. Still, at $25 this is a solution that may be too convenient and too economical for even the most ardent of DIYers to pass up.

I just ran wire chases in a fireplace surround. I did use a recessed receptacle, and it would have been nice to have this along with it. My wire chase is just a two and a half inch white pvc fitting that is flush with the drywall. I positioned it so it comes out right at the heart of my tv's back panel. It works well, but when I tilt the tv forward to plug in a new wire or adjust one, the hdmi comes unplugged.
