Samsung ToC LCD vs Plasma

So I was looking at getting the Panasonic Viera or the Samsung ToC and from what I have read the ToC gets better reviews and the people I have talked to with the 650 series really like them. I didn’t know till this past weekend that there was an LCD and plasma ToC. So now my only question is which do I get since the specs seem to be about the same and the 50 inch plasma is $50 more then the 46 inch LCD. Granted the wife thinks any TV over 42" is too big, but she’ll get use to the bigger TV eventually.

Just curious if you guys would have an opinion on which to get of these two models or even if you like the ToC series. I’ll be using this for PS3 games, blu-ray, HD Dish network and DVD’s mostly.

I am a plasma fan so my vote goes there. However, I would probably do the TH-50PZ85U or 800U for about the same price. Better black level performance.

My dad just got a 46" 550. For regular TV it looks worse than his old Samsung LCD, but with a quality signal it looks excellent and it looks amazing with BD

anymore thoughts on just the samsung models? LCD or Plasma and why? I tend to lean towards LCD, but I was thinking if the TV's are the same then the plasma should give better blacks. What would the LCD give me over the plasma?

thoughts?

LCD over plasma= Less natural movie reproduction, less native contrast, typically more $, pixel outage?

I have yet to see an LCD that has wowed me enought to consider it over a well done plasma. Especially when that plasma costs less in most cases.

Agreed completely with the other posters - plasma all the way; no contest.

I do think the -800U from Panasonic has better colour and blacks than the Samsung, scores 900/1080 for motion resolution and can be found from BBB.org accredited online retailers for close to $2,200.

Sorry, but there will be no review that shows the LCD being better for anything other than brightly lit rooms with no lighting control.

Plasma is the #1 display technology for those concerned with a good, natural picture.

I have a 52" 650 model. This fit my living room nicely and does well with the amount of light.
