Samsung to Adjust Genesis Chip Setting in Blu-ray Disc Player

Jim Sanduski, Senior VP of marketing for Samsung's Audio and Video Products Group stated today: "Samsung is currently working to revise the default settings on the noise-reduction circuit in the Genesis scaler chip to sharpen the picture. All future Samsung BD-P1000 production will have this revision and we are working to develop a firmware update for existing product." This takes care of one of the major issues reported (and experienced by us) with the BD-P1000 player. The other issue we hope gets addressed is the EDID problem where the player doesn't recognize some 1080p displays and maxes out at 720p/1080i.

Can Samsung honestly say they never noticed these issues before releasing the player to the general public? B$

I dont mind screw ups in first generation players...I bought at my own risk. What I do mind is a rather slow acknowledgment from Samsung that this is or is not an issue...and if so, what they are gonna do about it.
