Maybe they are out of production, and are making new models...try contacting samsung's support to have a better explanation.

With all the new models being announced or coming out, there is a real possibility that new models are on the way. Though based on the above, it likely is just a glitch - they wouldn't remove the current models until the new ones were available and we won't see new models hitting shelves until spring most likely.

I was about to recount my own experiences and how the entire "updating website" reasoning is entirely disingenuous, but looks like the truth was already documented here:

(sorry, can't post links since I'm a new member...just copy/paste)

You are now chatting with 'Arnold T'

Arnold T: Hello, I am a Samsung Technical Support representative. How may I assist you today?

Visitor: I noticed you removed the 8 series tvs from your wesite. They still sell them at the retailers. What happened?

Arnold T: The series 7 and 8 TV's are not displayed on the website because they are no longer being produced and whatever inventory is left with retailers is all that is left.

Arnold T: Samsung is beginning production on our 2010 models and will no longer be producing these models.

Visitor: why where they discontinued with nothing better to replace them? Are the new 3d tvs coming soon? if so do you know when? Im looking to buy a tv very soon

Visitor: what are your 2010 models? when will they come out?

Visitor: Thanks for the help!

Arnold T: I apologize for the inconvenience. However, I do not have the information about these future products besides what is available on Samsung.com. If you visit Samsung.com and search our product news area under About Samsung, you can find information about upcoming product launches.

Visitor: wouldn't the 2010 line be released already since we are almost in february?

Arnold T: It will be released by the next month.

Visitor: great. thank you> have a great day

Visitor: you guys make GREAT tvs by the way!!!!! Keep it up!!!

Arnold T: Thanks.

Arnold T: Thank you for chatting with us. If you have a minute, please press the "close" button and fill out a brief survey to help us serve you better. Have a wonderful day!

Visitor: sure.
