Samsung LCDTV Audio? Speakers needed?

Hi,

I just got a Samsung 46" LCD TV. THe problem with it is its sound.

It looks like the sound comes out of the bottom of the LCD, so it fires directly onto the table the TV is sitting on. So, when we hear it it sounds muted and hollow.

Is this how the TV is suposed to be? or is there something I am missing?

Are you just suposed to buy a external speaker system for this TV?

Thanks,

Raman

Most new TVs have the speakers at the bottom now because manufacturers (except Sony, as usual) have figured out that consumers don't want the speakers on the side and the increased width of the TV.

TV speakers are a mixed bag, but yes most people use an external sound system as that is the whole point of Home Theater.

Get a good HT system and don't use TV speakers at all

Get a good AVR system

Hook your satellite or cable TV feed to your AVR via HDMI.

Run an HDMI cable to TV and don't even use your TV speakers.

On the HT - fronts and center are most important. And for TV most of the dialog and voice comes out of the center speaker.

Ok, thanks :)

Can you give me some examples of a good AVR system? And the HT (is this the reciever?)?

Well...Im prety noob when it comes to speakers...I need a reciever and the speakers. I already have a decent sub that I am going to use.

For now, because of money, I think I am just going to go with 2 speakers. Any sugestions on what I can do...doesnt need to be exact, jsut some estimates, I have ~200-300 I can spend. Again I already have a decent sub that I can use, so I just need the 2...Im guessing tower speakers?

Thanks, in need of sugestions/examples. This is all new to me :)

Thanks

edit: Woah, looks like Im going to have to save up more money :(...still, sugestions open. :)
