To be revealed at this year's SID show, the new Samsung 40-inch OLED display sports a wide screen pixel format of 1280x800. The new prototype also offers a maximum screen brightness of 600 nits; a black-and-white contrast ratio of 5,000:1; and, a color gamut of 80 percent. Motion pictures with ultra-high quality images can be impeccably reproduced by skillfully employing OLED's rapid video response capabilities for image processing of HD-class resolution. The ultra-thin shape of the panels will allow future TV set designers to create televisions with a total thickness of only 3cm or less. Yowsa, that's progress!
