:eek:The theatrical release of Samsara will be in August 2012 and will at various theatres across the US. Samsara's World Premier screening was at the Toronto International Film Festival on Sept. 11, 2011. The team are currently arranging further showings.

Samsara is a nonverbal film described by the makers as a "guided meditation". The film uses very high quality images, scenes of nature and mankind to stimulate the viewer. The film contains no plot or actors, although there are several performers in the film. Samsara is Ron Fricke's 2011 follow-up to Baraka.

Well, mixed feelings on this one after watching it last night. It is good, BUT I feel Baraka was much better unfortunately. This one has a lot of great imagery, looks amazing video wise and they got some great shots, but it lacks something that Baraka had. It is hard to explain since there is no narration or explanation just like Baraka, but this one seems to not be able to connect on the same emotional level. It could be the editing or the subject matter, but it didn't strike the same chords, and it comes across as more somber, showing a bit more of the "ugly" of the human race. There didn't seem to be that much to balance it out, and maybe that was the intent, but we both had the same comments about it after watching it.

I think Koyaanisqatsi remains the best of these types of movies, whatever you want to call them. It seems to be the most pointed and focused of them so far and also the most exhilarating, but I have enjoyed them all from Ron Fricke and Godfrey Reggio. Criterion's recent release of the Qatsi trilogy is a godsend. I like them all, but I am blown away by Koyaanisqatsi every time I watch it, it is one of my all time favorite movies.
