Question for you - are you thinking about getting the metal grill or no? I don't like the looks of it in the photo, but I figure that it looks better in person.
make sure to get the lms5400 driver !! and new pair of dedicated 30a circuits :D

I kinda agree with you there...although I'll have to admitt... it looks pretty cool on my sub...:p.

As far as those samples are concerned....you'll have to ask him...but he did send some for me to gloss over....and my sub doesn't cost as much as yours:D.

Is it free? Because you know I'm cheap.

The 201/2s can't keep up with the those TSAD18s.

I'm not even sure the Salon 2s can keep up with them, but they have a much better chance.

Mahogany.

No, I'm getting magnetic black grills.

What do you mean by "keep up"?
In SPL, of course.

The TSADs with the funk audio DSP amp can probably push out around ~125db @ 1m 30hz to 100hz if I had to guess
The Revels can probably push out around ~110-112db @ 1m 60hz to 300hz
The KEFs are probably in that ~100db @ 1m range 60hz to 300hz

Total random guesses :D

The KEFs probably "cry uncle" long before the TSADs are even warmed up!

A Corvette ZR-1 drives nicely around town too...

I get the same reaction from some guys about my DD18+. "You're only pumping music through that thing? It's half asleep most of the time!" Yeah, it is, but it sure does sound nice while it's not working very hard.

ADTG can always make use of all of that unused capability by playing 20Hz test tones for critics and making them nauseous.

That's what I figured you meant.:D

But here is my point of view.

The KEF201/2s don't have to keep up with the FA18.0s.

The FA18.0s have to keep up with the KEF201/2s, which the FA18.0s can do in their sleep.:D

That's what GranteedEV was telling me.

No one will ever argue with the 30A circuits.:D

But Nathan Funk may say that the LMS5400 is not the "ultimate" woofer driver.

"The TC drivers [LMS] are surprisingly fragile, as they are actually built with more linear motor travel than mechanical travel...if left unchecked [if not using Limiter], the amplifier can bottom the driver out, and in extreme cases, can damage the driver, thereby turning your super duper driver into a super duper paperweight. The TSAD18v1 has been built so that no matter how much power is applied, at any frequency, it will not bottom out."

There are other factors:

The Decibel Meter

The Decibel Meter

Bottom line, all these drivers are top notch, and each has some compromises. The TSAD18v1 seems to have all the features I want and the few compromises I can live with. :D

Unless you're watching movies how much sound quality are you really going to gain from doing this? Those Rythmiks are very nice subs for the money, and don't get me wrong, the Funk Audio stuff is top of the line (and I mean top of the line), but in your smallish room you're already using two quality subs, so... You'll gain headroom, but you probably won't notice much SQ difference once you re-level match and apply PEQ to the subs.

This is more about bragging rights, isn't it? :)

Pretty much.:D

I think Rythmik is great.

I also think my dual RBH SX-1010N are great, although they get no respect, except from maybe the Audioholics staff.:D

The Funk Audio 18.0 is more about bragging rights. Beautiful satin cherry curved side finish with black magnetic grills and kick a$$ TSAD18v1 woofers.:D

The Funks are much nicer looking pieces of furniture than the Rythmiks :D

From a pure build quality and craftsmanship standpoint there will be more of a "wow factor" mating those FA subs with the Salon2 which you will just not get blending with the KEFs and Rythmiks.

FA subs + Salon2 makes one helluva statement.

Darn you!

That was my initial thought too!:D

What if I use the dual FA18.0 for both Salon & KEF using two Y-cables (2F-1M) at the subwoofer amp (probably Crown XTI2002 stereo amp)?

Of course, only one set of speakers will be playing at a time (only one Denon will be on at a time).

Well then you chose the right vendor in my opinion. If I was buying a subwoofer (or multiples) I'd buy from Funk Audio. The TSAD and LMS5400 drivers are tops; I'd struggle to decide which to go with.

As long as I don't use both sets of speakers at the same time, it should be okay?

So ~5K on subs to be used to around 10 percent of their potential.. brilliant.
