I have a RX-V663 with no HDMI output so I guess it's time for an upgrade anyway I always thought that this specific receiver had a boring sound. I have a couple of candidates: Yamaha RX-A lineup and Denon AVR-X's so I would like your input. 50/50 music and movies, 700-1k budget,Klipsch Reference gear. Thks.

Pros and cons between yammy and Denon?

At the price point denon has better the xt32 room correction. You can still find the x3300 for $599 with preouts for external amplification if needed; with measured output voltage to drive most all amps. Dollar for dollar a better deal. Ive owned and own Yamahas and havent had issues. Under 1k the denon is almost impossible to beat.

Sure, slightly more power, connectivity and IIRC works with HEOS wirless speakers. I know the 4300 and 4400 do.

Do you think that would be a step up regarding audio quality compared with the RX-V663?

X4100 is an older model, doesn't have the same feature set as the newer 4300/4400. Might want to make sure it has the features you're looking for. Doesn't appear it has the latest HDCP or DTS:X or support for high res flac from a brief glance at the Denon page...

I personally like the newer Sony units using DCAC EX these days like the 1080 or 810ES, but Denon is a very close second especially since you can occasionally find the 3400 on sale for $599.

I have the 2060 which is very similiar to the 2070. I can definitely recommend it.
