So you would get the 3800 if you could get it for 1200 bucks?
Hell yeah!!!! That's the kind of price I could only dream of up here, like half price probably. I'd jump on that in a heartbeat.

Since you did jump on it, I offer my congratulations for snagging such a nice receiver at such a great price. I can't touch that kind of deal.

She busted me walking out of Best Buy, getting my $80 fish-something HDMI cable.

She was "cutting through" the parking lot as a short cut right when I was walking out!

Dont worry, the cable will go back as soon as my BJC gets here.

Women seem to have that kind of timing.

What do you think so far? Is it heavier than you old one?

Excellent! Man, that's a great b-day present. I'm sure that it'll go very nicely with the 1900 that she got you as a surprise. :D

Just seeing the pictures (both boxed and unloaded)...mmmmm...makes me want a new one. My birthday isn't for a couple of months, though. DARN IT!

I see what you mean. I just went and looked at your credenza and there is not much room there. You must have to pull it away from the wall.

I'd be happy to hook it all up for you, that is my idea of a fun evening! Congrats on the new receiver, I know you will love it.

What made you choose the 3800 over the 1800 that you were considering before? How much could your dealer have gotten you the 1800 for?

Now go update your sig line to indicate your new receiver!

I was going with the 1900 but was talked into the 3800:eek:

He didnt have any 1800's left and the 1900 cost more than the 3800.

You will be very happy with it, I wish I could have gotten the 3800, but I really don't need it's extra features and didn't have the extra money to spend.

I am not certain I "need" anything but I did want a HDMI AVR and I hate how the RCA plugs are just on the surface of the lower models. For 1200 bucks it seemed I couldn't go wrong with this model.

I am going to try and be off work by early afternoon and hook the thing up. It is a big deal with my credenza as I have to take my TV and amp out of it to slide it on my hardwood floor.

I am certain I will have questions such as the "PCM for the new HD Codecs" issue.

On my 659 I had to use a comp. cable to see the onscreen display, do I have to do this now?

Not sure about the OSD thing, I don't even mess with it, but most likely it's the same, and I don't get OSD with HDMI. And you will always see PCM on the receiver when using your PS3 if you have it set to PCM, as you don't want to use bitstream for anything.
