I laughed so hard my sides split
I stumbled into this while doing a search for the RX-V2090. I literally laughed out loud when I read where Clint DeBoer estimated the value of the RX-V2090 at $100. To be sure this receiver lacks any digital inputs or outputs at all, and for that reason it would not have a Dolby Digital decoder. But you have to compare what it DOES have with other receivers that are available today. Even it you only compare it with modern high-quality stereo receivers, it is comparable in every way, i.e., it is sonically excellent, very powerful, is exceedingly flexible, has 5-ch discrete inputs, and excellent tuner, and much, much more. For anyone who doesn't much care about much more that two channels with a subwoofer, but who does care about the stuff that was deemed important right before Dolby Digital and DTS burst onto the scene, the RX-V2090 is a better receiver than anything that you can buy today. You can't buy a new receiver today that has pre-out main-in jumpers that allows you to use an equalizer between the preamp and the power amp. Even with the ones that 5.1 or 7.1 inputs, these are inputs to the preamp only, not the power amps. If you compare this A/V receiver with other new receivers that similarly lack digital inputs, you will find that it is far and away a better, more capable receiver than just about any of the new ones. All of which begs the question: why would anyone estimate the value of this receiver at no more than $100? I can't help but laugh.
