My Yamaha RX-V1 loses its configuration after a power outage. I have to set up the amp from scratch when power first comes back on. Is there a battery backup for the configuration or a flash rom that could be replaced?

Thank you in advance.

More than likely it has a battery or flash rom, I would contact Yamaha and see if they can help.:)

They wanted me to drop it off at a Yamaha dealer and I was told it would cost around $300 to fix. I decided to persue fixing it myself.

Oh, well maybe someone with more knowledge about your particular receiver will be able to inform you better than I. I would imagine it uses flash rom, batteries don't get used to often anymore.

I also have an RXV1; it's used to power a few extra zones.
Though, I don't experience the problem you have.
Try finding a cheap UPS. You can probably find one that would cost less than the price of shipping, if you sent it to be repaired.
A UPS will be enough to hold your settings during a power outage, and offer some surge protection too.

That's a possible solution, be sure that it's the only thing connected and that you power the receiver off when using it to conserve the UPS storage. It's a bandaid, but should work.:)
