I was watching a DVD when I noticed on the front panel of my 2500 only the L & R indicator lights were on, I was receiving sound from all other speakers, this left me puzzled, why was it was only displaying the left & right channels. I started checking out some of my setup options on the Receiver and DVD player and found that I had selected the Dolby digital & PCM option on the DVD player, when I switched this option to only Dolby digital and NO PCM the indicator light for all the channel on the receiver were displayed. It also seemed to have a higher volume level. What would be the correct setting? Dolby digital & PCM or just Dolby digital?

Dolby Digital is the correct setting. PCM is stereo mixdown only.

On my 2 DVD players, the choices are "stream" and "pcm". For 5.1 sound, always select "stream" or in your case, Dolby Digital.
