Ruling on Loudspeaker Specifications

How About a Ruling on Loudspeaker Specifications?

The FTC has the power to set rules on audio amplifier specifications. Could they also have the authority to set rules on loudspeakers?

Only a few manufacturers will specify the minimal impedance pertaining to their speakers. But wouldn't it be desirable to have all of them publish that info in the specs that they release?

I would like to see the frequency at which the driver's impedance dips to its lowest point in the 30-400 Hz range, where most of the power is required with the usual audio source material. In comparison, transient impedance dips at higher frequencies don't represent a significant power demand.

Most people who own AV equipment don't have the proper tools to test them, as opposed to some of us who build speakers. Such ruling would also help eliminating confusion about some published nominal impedance values by a few brands such as Bowers & Wilkins to name one.

Other opinion anyone?

Be nice but I wouldn't wait for such. Consumers rarely understand speaker wattage ratings, let alone impedance....
