At first sight, the new R1 looks very similar to its predecessors, but if you take a closer look you'll notice that many things been refined and updated from the previous version. Lets first take a quick look at this unit and then we'll get into the details.
Its ‘RotoDial’ control system is just an example which combined with the latest OLED display, provides an easy to use control interface. Here is a top view so you can see the RotoDial Control.
With this unit you can wirelessly enjoy internet radio and use other services such as Spotify and also stream your favorite tunes from MP3 players, smartphones and computers with Bluetooth transmitters built-in. It is easy and convenient at the same time.
Another nice feature is its customizable twin alarms and adjustable snooze and sleep timer. Take a quick look at the front of the unit. The following picture explains some of the most notable features found on the R1 MK3.
But what about connectivity? On the rear of the panel you’ll find a headphone output and a switchable auxiliary input which allows other audio devices to be connected. It also features a USB charge port so you can conveniently charge your smartphone whenever needed. Another thing to note is the built quality of the R1.
As we all know, most radios are made from plastic, but this one is tuned and handcrafted from wood materials which gives it structural strength resulting in less cabinet vibration than conventional designs. The R1's enclosure retains the same attractive dimensions as the previous version, but with new lacquer finishes and a crisper design for the front and rear panels.
