Hi all,
The following image is my room layout:
Height of the room is 8ft and the room is carpeted.
Speakers:
Fronts: Paradigm Studio 40v3
Sides: Paradigm Studio 20v3
Center: Paradigm Studio CC470v3
Sub: Aperion Audio
AVR:
Pioneer Elite VSX-84TXSi
Source:
PS3 - Hdmi
HTPC with Nivida gpu, (FLAC lossless) - Hdmi
Roku - Hdmi
Except for the sub I got all the gear used around 4 years ago. Moved around with them and this is my new rental.
I am looking to change my AVR for Audyssey , DD+ (for Netflix), Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD-MA decoding and the rest of the glitter. I am leaning towards Marantz av7005 and Emotiva XPA line of amps or as suggested in amp form I might just go with Denon 4811ci and throw in Emotiva XPA-2 for that 2 channel goodness.
I find my Paradigms to cause fatigue after listening for 30 mins. I am looking for speakers that have much wider sound-stage and cause less fatigue but with good resolution and separation of instruments. Since I listen to classic rock mostly and some new hits once in a while. Never listen to hip-hop or rap nor I do play at high volumes.
I am leaning towards B&W CM9/8s (heard these) and Dynaudio Focus 220 mkII or Dynadio Focus 260 (not heard these). I would love to try out Dynaudio Confidence C1 Signature/II but I cannot afford them.
I am painfully aware of my room, I am negotiating with my wife to send the sofa2 to the garage, put the TV on the wall and have a rack to the right or left side of the wall and clear the clutter in the center between the speakers.
My set of questions:
1. Is my room worth it ?, I cannot make any room treatments. I might not even put the TV on the wall (owner might not agree to punch holes on the wall)
2. My total speaker budget is $5000 (for 5 speakers) this includes $$ from selling my current setup. I am willing to go the used route.
Please suggest me speakers that I should try other than the ones I have mentioned above. I am still trying to get to one of the dealers near by to audition Dynaudios.
I found CM9s to be good or in the direction of what I am looking for but I do not think they are huge step from me. I have to listen to them more to be honest.
thanks in advance.
