My Pioneer Elite 91TXH receiver has an automatic room calibration system(Auto MCACC).I have read that room calibration systems do wonders for sound, but I wonder if it's all hype or is mine defective.
I can run the setup several times in succession with absolutely no change of anything in the room and get different results for some frequencies each time, some as much as 5 or 6 db, sometimes in the lower range(125 or 250 hz) and sometimes in the mid and sometimes in the highs (8k or 16k hz).
Invariably, the auto setup boosts the subwoofer 2 to 5 db, whether I set the X over at 40 hz,80 hz or 125 hz, which sounds way out of balance. Except for the excessive bass boost, although the auto setup makes some significant cuts or boosts at certain frequencies and I can tell the difference by switching back and forth between the auto setup and pure direct input, I can't say that the auto setup sounds better. I actually usually prefer the direct input setting.
Does anyone have any experience with the 91TXH that is similar--or different than mine.
