Not quite sure this is the proper place, but here is my problem. I recently switched from Comcast to Verizon Fios. With that came a change in my router (to verizons action tek from my own belkin). Since then, I can no longer access my library in WPM from my Roku Soundbridge. I can find the router on the SB but can only access internet radio..no libraries found. I've posted on Roku's forum but have only gotten responses that have eliminated potential problems. No solution. I'm beginning to think its either a problem with WMP11 or a firewall issue but frankly I'm at a loss. Any ideas?

If you changed routers, the default configuration may be different than what you were using before. It's likely that the computer is on a different subnet than the router.

If using XP, type 'ipconfig /all' at a command prompt and post the result.

I believe you are onto something. My library is in the basement. The routher is dealing with the EA lan

The Roku isn't finding Basement at all. What next?

If the IP is 192.168.1.2 then the subnet mask should be 255.255.255.0 (but you didn't show that). The router, which would be listed as 'default gateway' would likely be 192.168.1.1.

First try to ping or tracert 192.168.1.1 to verify connectivity to the router.

I'm assuming this verizon 'router' is a combo modem and router and your other machines, like basement, are connected to it. If that is not the case and the verizon thingy is actually a modem, similar to a cable modem, then you need to connect it to the the old Belkin router and the other machines to the router as well.

By the way, you can click on the menu on a command prompt and select 'mark', highlight the text, and press enter to put it on the clipboard (it looks like you typed it all individually which is why you left out some things).

What he said.

We would need the full list from the ipconfig command to help further.

If you were to post the model number of the modem it would be very helpful.

You are completely correct about the ipconfig (the 1.1 and 1.2 and the 255s)

The model number of the router/modem is MI424WR-gen2 Activetek. I couldn't figure out the 'mark' command (actually how to copy it), but what you said is correct.

I had disconnected the belkin thinking that the Verizon router/modem would be replacing it. My thinking was why would I need 2 routers?

I really appreciate the help and apologize for my ignorance.

So do I connect the Belkin to the Activetek or can combine the two subnets and only use the Activetek?

I couldn't find anything on activetek...

If it is a modem, it should have an rj-45 port on the back. If you had only one machine you could connect it directly to that port. If you have more than one, you need a router. The router ties all the machines together into one network and if an address is not on the local network, it sends the packets out its wan port - to which is connected the modem.

So...if the activetek is really a modem, you connect it to the Belkin router's wan port and you connect all the other machines to the Belkin's lan ports. The Belkin router should be configured to use DHCP, which it sounds like it already is if your 'basement' machine used to be connected to it and was assigned an IP of 192.168.1.2.

How many machines do you have (basement, roku, more?) and how were they previously connecte? Fios modem or not, for internet access you had to have the Belkin router connected to some other kind of modem, whether cable or DSL.

Pictures of the back of the activetek would help.

Previously I was using my belkin connected to a Comcast Modem and my PC, but the Verizon Modem is a combo Modem/Router and the tech hooked it up. Its running my land line (phone) and the Fios tv. I have unhooked the belkin because he had detached it from my PC. The only wireless equipment I am using is the Roku. Here is the complete ipconfig:
