Rocket rs850's and rs1000's

I am in the market for some new speakers as some of you may know. I have looked at the Rockets and fell in love with them. They will probably get WAF out the wazoo. I'm not an audio snob and I'm not picky about this nuance or that nuance. What I would like to ask is two things. First off, pros and cons with going with either of these models and secondly what would people that own or have heard these compare them to. I know that every pair of ears is different, but all I'm really looking for is a strong speaker that sounds good playing either movies or music. I rarely turn on my sub, mainly due to apartment restrictions, and I'm pretty used to a 3.1 sound coming out of my Klipsch B-3's atm (don't ask, wife insists that we get a rug to run wires first). I would also be looking at getting the matching center channel with these and saving for a bit for the surrounds. Thanks for the input and, as always, you guys rock.

Awww, that's too bad, Mike. The Rocket's would have rocked!!! Let me know if anything changes. I'd be glad to help. :)

Know the feeling so well...

How about Swan, Monitor Audio (you can change finishes), or get Salk Song Towers with a custom finish, they have every finish you can imagine, plus they will work with you AND YOUR WIFE to find the proper finish (veneer, real wood, paint, car paint, industrial paint, etc.) They did a pair of bookshelves with an industrial texturized charcoal gray finish for a customer of theirs, and they would look and sound so good in my garage (my other man cave).

Yep. :) Get her involved with the purchase and take her with you. Go to speciality stores selling Audio/HT and get some good one on one time with a sales person. She'll quickly realize that most speakers are rectangular monoliths.

Avoid the the big box stores because most kids selling audio equipwmnt there don't know much. Avoid Bose. They are perfectly small and cute but are overpriced garbage.

Now there are options;

a. Monitor/Bookshelve size speakers on stands such as

http://www.psbspeakers.com/products/Image-Series/Image-B25-Monitor
http://www.totemacoustic.com/us/products/compact/rainmaker/

b. Round speakers from companies like;

I hope this helps :)

What color is your furniture? I know they made a limited run of the Rockets in Ebony (dark brown) stain and also saw a pair of Oak ones floating around (check the classifieds on AV123forum). Not sure if they'll still make them, you can call and ask...

thanks for the ideas everyone, and btw i have an interview at one of the big box stores, to work there for the third time in my life. i hate bose and in all my time working there i never sole 1 bose set up, or sony speakers or receivers either :D, keep the suggestions coming, i am beging to lean towards less expensive bookshelves and a small sub (outlaw maybe) since the wife said i could have the rockets when we buy our first house (only a year or two away) :D
