Wow! That's a lot of responses! Sweet. Ok, so here's my dilemma, I like to modify, and tinker, and believe there's always room for improvement. I currently have a fluance rt81 turntable, 100% stock. Had it hooked up in the apartment, bought new house and working on getting back into it especially during the winter. Just ordered new cables from a U.S. company called Signal Hi-Fi, figured the looked good, and priced right, made here, and dont cost $3k. Hooking up to my marantz SR7007. First off, looking to get a new cartridge and headshell, and keep the OEM one for thrift store records, and the good one for new records. Looking up to $200 price range. I know that my TT is pretty much junk, butmwhat can I do for improvements? My mother got it for me 2 christmases ago, and told her I wouldnt "trade up". Leaning towards the VM95ML. As I cant adjust VTA, not too crazy about the ortofon carts. Grado looks cool, and made right here in NY. That's awesome, but reviews show it hooked up to a $3.7 billion record player like the washing machine pick above lol. Worried my little fluance will sound horrible with it. Only thing I will not change is the dust cover and plinth, open to all other mods though down the road. Also down the road might take my marantz out of the loop, hook up my klipsch amp to the TT, a outboard phono preamp, get a 2ch. Amp, and have it hooked up to my paradigms with a selector switch to have both music and reciever hooked up. But that will be a down the road thing. Thanks for any input!
