right and left speaker placement

I am looking at a new home theater cabinet where the right and left speakers would be forced to lay horizontal (similar to a center channel) versus vertical. I was looking at using RBH 661's for my from three speakers. How much will laying the LR speakers hurt performance? What problems does this pose? Does it make sense to have this nice of speaker if it has to go horizontal?

Thanks

Most speakers are made to provide better horizontal dispersion than vertical, so they won't necessarily sound the way they should. One may be OK with physical boundaries nearby and others won't. You'll need to do some listening tests to find what sounds good to you- while the opinions you may read and hear will tell you that it's not right, only you will be able to determine if it sounds good.
