Actually the new Onkyo will be the first HDMI 1.3 receiver reviewed on Audioholics. That review should be coming out shortly.
I am scheduled to do a Yamaha Z11 review after the Audioholics party.
It seems Denon has gone silent lately around the internet but we will catch up with them to schedule a review of one of their new receivers.
I heard from a dealer, I know it is an extremely unreliable source, that Denon had not updated their power supplies (not sure how important that is) and said they sounded like crap, in his humblest opinion. This dealer sells Denon, Yamaha, and Integra. They tend to favor Integra quite heavily with Yamaha as a close second. They say they might not carry the new Denon line. It seems rather stupid to me, given what he said about Yamaha and Integra. The Integra, according to them, is neutral and works well with the Boston Acoustics speakers they sell, but Yamaha (RX-V1800) "fuzzies" up the tweeters on the Boston Acoustics (Seth rolls his eyes at this statement).
The Yamaha RX-V1800 is quite nice by the way, clean fit and finish and solid amplifier performance. Can't comment on HDMI or surround performance, only stereo. I do feel that the Onkyo TX-SR805 trumps it. I listened to one in a closed room with Boston Acoustics VR series and a Velodyne DPS-12 and it was very dynamic, sweet powerful sound, sonic bliss.
