I built a wire harness for my outboard motor out of PTFE coated wire. Why? Because it was for harsh environment and I had a bunch of the right colors that followed Mercury's color code.
Turned out to be kind of a good omen. The engine flooded and caught fire and was engulfed in flames. After I got it extinguished, I was happy to find that the wiring harness I had made was completely unharmed. Once I cleaned the carb and the problematic float needle, installed some new plug wires, she started right up!
