Thanks mike. That one never crossed my radar. I like the cast (thanks for the convenient link), but I REALLY like Carice van Houten (especially in Black Book). :D

yeah, i didn't know about this movie as well. did it even go through the theaters? just saw in on bluray, then checked it out.

it looks to have a significant budget. so i don't understand why i totally missed this.

unfortunately, Carice is more of a supporting role here. (not many scenes too)

I Netfixed both movies mentioned here. My girl is not a fan of the subtitles, Meat, but the ratings and rec sold me. Repo Men is a saved item. :(

Oh, BB is alright. IMO, it's not a can't miss. It's impossible to watch more than once, for me. It's just that Carice is sooooooo fine in that one. I think Lives of Others is more interesting. Hmm what have I seen as far as foreign lately, can't remember, but I do have The Counterfeiters in from Netflix, just checked out the first 10 min or so the other night, and the PQ looks decent from what I can tell, and the story is immediately compelling . . . will let you know later . . . I hear it's an ok movie, I mean by American standards (we are tough, if spoiled, with such larger budgets, etc).

The ending ruined it for me, but I could see it coming when they were talking about the device in the car.

oh. remake.

it's a great remake of an 'original' story :D

yeah, i liked the ending too. half the viewers will like it, half won't.

i'll take this over boondock saints 2 (which i watched last night) any day.
Not really a remake, but definitely a bit of a rip off of another movie.

Rep: The Genetic Opera is a great Blu Ray movie, and I wouldn't compare repo men to it. That's bad.

Genetic Opera had a plot, a secret, a bad guy, a good/bad guy, a dying little girl, a company that re-posessed organs, and a bad-*** lady who could project images with her eyes and sang opera... oh and did I mention the whole movie is a rock opera? I'm pretty sure that song at the end won some kind of award, and when the little girl cried at the end after that 2nd to last ballad, I almost cried. AND IM A MAN! A MANLY MAN!

Repo Men: Two guys work for a company, one guy goes "woops" then the company is all like "here's some **it" and he's like "no thank you" and they're like "too bad." Then the company did not give him a break because he worked for them for some reason and then I turned the movie off.

It's definitly not a remake, and it borrowed an idea, that was already good enough.

Now I don't know if I want to take it out of my Netflix queue or bump it to the #1 position.

I think with a few more spoilers I will feel like I already saw it. What a time saver that would be. :D

bump it up.

at least if you don't like it, you'll know to never listen to my recommendations again.

It releases August 10th. I'll be thinking of you when I watch this. The only movie that I can remember that you really liked was Iron Man and that was great. I mean, who doesn't want to be Tony Stark? ... all except for the tortured by terrorists part but they got theirs by golly! :)

I just watched Repo Men and thought it was entertaining. The movie itself had an interesting story and some good scenes. What I really liked was the soundtrack, excellant music. I ordered the cd. Definitely worth watching especially with a decent sound system.

Watched it last night, wasn't crazy about it. Some sequences of dialogue were a bit dumbed down and/or pedestrian, but OTOH there were a couple of better scenes. If there is a saving grace for me, it's the few humorous scenes that got me to laugh out loud, like the child surgeon . . .

I don't think I will ever recommend this movie to anyone, but I understand if many others would enjoy it.
