I need to replace my not so old Denon AVR-485 (that stopped working after I moved) and was looking at several models. I run a 5.1 set up now with the Infinity TSS-1100 speakers and 750 (12”) Sub.

These are the units I was looking at… any suggestions or opinions are GREATLY APPREICATED!! Thanks a lot.

What features do you want? HDMI? HD audio decoding? Are you planning to pick up a bluray player?

And before Seth=L says it, the Yamaha 663 seems like a really good value for the feature it offers, particularly if you have or plan on picking up a bluray player. (handles the new HD audio formats).

If you don't care about HDMI and HD audio, there are lots of good bargains out there.

I have yet to get HD through my cable provider, but soon will.... and as far as Blu-ray.... I'm not that interested, DVD's look fine too me, and I do my gaming on my PC.

I was kinda leaning towards one of the HK, because my speakers are infinity and the silver would match the rest.

I recommend you get a receiver that can process the latest deep color and lossless audio formats for future use. Right now you probably have not seen the benefits of these features, but if you pick the right receiver and for probably not much more money, you always have the option of using those advanced features in the future. A year or two from now you may wish you had got those features but then you would have to buy a new receiver again. Blue ray will probably be here for the long haul, but everyone does not feel the need to upgrade at the same time. It is just good to be prepared for the time when you do want to upgrade.

Good call.... I think im gonna go with the HK-247... read a lot of good stuff about it and a lot say it sounds better than the yamaha.

Any strong objections to this?

*also, I plan on buying locally so I can return if need be. :)
