Remote control and water such a lovely combination

Yes, my remote for my receiver met it's match last night. Yesterday I tweaked my ankle so I thought I would watch a movie (land of the dead) while I soaked my foot in a tube of ice water. Well the movie ended, so I thought I would get up and take the DVD out, so forgetting that the RC was in my lap I stood up and wouldn't you know it the damn thing hits the water and sinks to the bottom.

My problem is not knowing if I should as far as buying another remote, if so which one, send the damaged remote to Yamaha to get it replaced or take the damn thing to Best buy(where I bought my receiver) to see if they will replace it.

My receiver is the HTR 5840) everything is still under warrenty and I got took from best buy and bought their service plan.

Please help

I do not want to spend an enormus amount of money to replace this thing.

thanks

Take the batteries out and let it dry outside for awhile. You may get lucky.

I would do what MDS suggests and if that doesnt work...take it to best buy and say, the darn thing just stopped working!? they might just give you a new one.

.....hair dryer on low....give it a LONG time to dry, like a couple of days.....

....a friend of mine dropped her cell phone into the hole of a Port-a-Potty at work....she decided to just leave it and get another one, haha.....

Hopefully it will dry out and work, but I doubt it. I'm sure your Best Buy warranty doesn't cover accidental lap diving.

I'd see how much Yamaha wants for a new remote, search ebay and see if you can find one cheaper, or upgrade to a Harmony.

I recently got a Harmony 880 and it's a great remote. I would recommend one if you can't get the water logged one replaced/fixed.
