.....TBoneSTL, what is the company or concern you would be ordering a refurbished unit from?....yeah, I ended with a preposition there, haha....some could probably be trusted to actually fix the problem that caused it being returned....concerning a receiver, I suspect things would be in order....if you look hard enough, you will find adverse war-stories concerning buying refurbished....I have done so a couple of times and didn't get burned....some have.....

.....I would call and talk to whomever, concerning the particular unit in which you are interested....I would ask what was wrong and make them assure me it was fixed and ready for quality service.......

I'd rather see you shop online for a new Pioneer 1015TX which is basically a rebadged 52TX with a full warranty. Should be about the same price. The shipping would make up for the warranty, should something go wrong.

I will second the Pioneer VSX-1015tx THX Select2.
It is great, I bought mine NEW for 393.00 shipped.....

Forgot to add, even though I am looking for a THX Ultra2. (see signature below) Mainly because, the upcoming HT room will be fairly large.
But by no means am I knocking the power of the 1015tx.
And I would not get a Ultra2, until prices come way down, or I find one for a super deal...

You, I am sure, would be very happy with a 1015.
