The above system forgot the cost of stands, shipping, receiver, and cd/dvd player.

Your first system forgot the cost of stands and shipping. And, you couldn't give me Axiom surrounds with 4" woofers. LOL. They look like wheel choks. http://www.axiomaudio.com/qs4_main.html
It did not include stands or shipping, you're correct. It did include a receiver and cd/dvd player, though. It would behoove you to know what you're talking about.

*shrug* You have your opinions and I have mine.

Here's another system:

Ascend 340s (front/left, center) + 127s (surround) + STF-2 - $1508
Plus the stuff from my first post is still under $2k.
There is not a receiver or cd/dvd player here. Watch the names.

I am new to this, so I could be wrong. But isn't it better to buy all of the speakers and sub from the same place instead of buying them from different manufacturers? I imagine that if they are made by the same manufacturer they work better together... ?
All of the speakers I recommended were made by the same manufacturer. The sub doesn't have to be, but it ended-up that way. I sent different links due to the price. That is the best way to get the best deal. Also, all of the links I gave you are authorized to sell with a full warranty.

"Plus the stuff from my first post is still under $2k."

Where did you think the other $500 went?

Wow, your $3000 system uses 20% of its budget for a subwoofer.

LOL.

Due to the huge discount on the towers. If you look at retail, it will come back in line.

But, you have to admit, this looks like one bad ars system.;)

I'm curious... I think I'd go for the upgraded speakers (340's vs 170's) and spend a little bit less on a receiver. Why did you go for the 170's, particularly as a center channel?

If you can wait until mid-summer or fall, don't overlook the SVS middle line (MTS-01). I've been in contact with Ron and he has some great things in store for everyone. (P.S. This would be aplicable if you had a 3k budget, not 2k)

Has to do with timber matching/cancellation issues of a MTM design. Plus cost..

Are you saying that three 170's across the front would sound *better* than three 340's?
