Can anyone recommend a reputable online dealer for the Yammy V661 who might be able to be the $499 MSRP that seems to be standard for Amazon and all the big-box retailers?

Thanks,
Ben

Researched stores

The bix box retailers (Circuit City, Best Buy, HH Greg). B&H Photo Video in NYC. Crutchfield. Amazon.

Also did a quick search on Froogle.com, but those searches tend to either return the normal price (499) or REALLY low prices that seem too good to be true.

The RX-V model is a big box store model so you won't find it online for cheap. You have to search for the HTR-6060 which is the online retailer version of it which you will find cheaper. Yamaha makes 2 models of their receivers. Back in the day the RX-V models could only be bought through specialty AV shops but BB started getting them in around 2 years ago. They used to sell the HTR models too.

The RX-V and HTR equivalent models are the exact same specs wise but they are rated differently when it comes to power. Also the HTR models supposedly have a plastic faceplate and the RX-V models are metal. I got my RX-V661 for $449 last month at BB and it was the cheapest I found it anywhere. Receivers go on sale at BB all the time so if you want to save like $50 just wait a bit. Right now HK receivers are on sale and they have the AVR-247 for $449.

@Gus6464...

Thanks. I went with Crutchfield, but got the V659, instead. It was the same price everywhere, including local shops, but w/ Crutchfield I got free shipping and no tax.

Thanks for your help.
