I know many are happy with Emotiva but does it produce good sounding, especially for music? the spec and price make the Emo looks like the best bang for the buck but is it really?
I think Emotiva amps are best bang for the buck, and I think they produce excellent sound quality, and have excellent measurements in terms of FR, SNR, Crosstalk, THD.

But I like ATI amps & Parasound amps better (in terms of other things besides SQ).:D

The funny thing is that those who offered me 5ch amp are currently own Emo XPA-5.
Noticed that did ya? :D

I think it relates back to this old saying: Never trust a skinny cook.

I bought my HK brand new. Just doesn't sound as good as the Carver :)
I don't think the needles ever went above 15W level.
One other thing I forgot to mention, which, however, is essential when comparing equipment. In order for a listening test to be fair, both items must be precisely level matched. This is because a slight difference in volume is subjectively perceived as a difference in quality, with the slightly louder one seeming to have more bass, more treble, and more detail. This nonlinear aspect of human hearing is why loudness compensation circuits are put into so much stereo gear, so that when one is listening at a low volume, one can engage the circuitry to boost the bass and treble in a manner to compensate for this aspect of human hearing.

It is extremely unlikely that your two amplifiers will put out precisely the same power with the same input, and judging from what you have said, my guess is that the Carver puts out more power with the same input.

The proper way to do a listening test would involve using a meter to measure the output of each amplifier, and putting in a volume control to compensate for the difference. And, of course, the listening should be double blind.

In the absence of such things, try listening to the HK with the volume control on your preamp turned higher than when using the Carver, so you can tell that it is barely louder, and then compare that way.

AcuDefTech, what are the other items on the parasound and ATIs that you like better?

I recently picked up a used parasound 1206. It is a beast and it sounds awesome, it is 6 channels however. The only drawback is that it doesn't come with the 12V triggers, but mine has been modded to include this. The nice thing about the 1206 is that 4 channels can be bridged into 2.

Unlike some folks, aesthetics is big on my priority list, and the Emotiva gears don't turn me on.:D

I prefer the aesthetics of the ATI & Parasound amps.

I also think ATI & Parasound amps are better built physically.

I also like the fact that my ATI amps use a "fuse-less" technology; so no fuse to replace.

I like that ATI has a 7 yr warranty.

ATI & Parasound reliability record is second to none.

ATI make some amps for Mark Levinson, Lexicon, JBL, Earthquake Sound, & Outlaw Audio plus 7 other brands not disclosed.:D

And last, but not least, I absolutely love those giant heavy duty steel handles on the front of my ATI amps.:D

I believe some Parasound have the handles in the back, instead of front.

I know looks are subjective, I liked the silver trim. The wife however, did not. So we swapped them out.
Agreed, the black does look better. I just ordered them :)
