Reciever question/help?

First I have been scanning a lot of webpages and forums trying to find the best answer. I have seen similar topics but was hoping to get info from more experienced people.

This will be my first HT system build. I am trying to stay modest for the first go at it. I have so far Polk Rti8s and a CSi5. Surrounds and sub are in process of being looked at for the best price. Probably Rti4s/Fxi3 and HSU or SVSound sub. The main question I have is: Which receiver would anyone recommend?

I was thinking about the Onkyo 605 and 705, but don’t know if I really need the power of the 705 or the jack to add an amp. I can get the 605 for about $399+tax at local store and the 705 for about $583 on Amazon. I looked at Denon and Yamaha but not sure. I read in a forum that Yamaha don’t mix well with Polk.

Any help is much appreciated.

I think you have put together a nice little system. There is no value in what you heard about Yammy/ Polk not mixing well together; all "SAME MODEL" AVRs will sound the same. I would go with the 605 or a Yammy 661 if they have the features you need. Either will drive your Polks just fine.
