Couch against the wall - never a great idea.

I like the idea that you had the entertainment center built out of solid wood instead of it being store bought dust and glue. Nicely done.

I really like the look. It is a beautiful room and the wood work really makes the custom look pop.

I am just confused as to why you decided to place the system on the long wall and your couch adjacent to it.

As pointed out by j garcia, you really should have built the entertainment center on the short wall and placed the seating position two thirds back from there. You would probably even of had room for a riser and a second row of seats in this configuration.

You invested a great deal of time and effort and it shows but a little more research would have bore these suggestions out.

Actually the couch is opposite the system. I built the cabinet along the long wall because it is framed in by the structural beams for the house. This was dead space anyway, so I decided to put it to good use.

Here is a picture of the beams. The cabinet is currently between them.
