Receiver & XBOX issue

Ok,
My Sat/Cble, DVD, CD players works fine with the Receiver and TV
My XBOX works fine with Panasonic TV. Some times the receiver will show the xbox and sometimes it doesn't recognize it. Other times it shows it, but there's a constant flicker on the TV. I'm running everything through the reciever to the HDMI AV input on the Plasma. Is there some special setup you need to run with an XBOX?

how long are your hdmi cables?

My cables between the XBOX and receiver are short (3 feet)
My cable between the receiver and the TV is 8 feet long and it's a Monster 1000HD.

Troubleshooting it last night had it working on and off, but I couldn't consistently repeat the process each time. There's a lot of functionality in the receiver I'm still trying to learn.

Weird

My son let's the xbox and receiver run in the background for about five minutes while watching tv and clicks back every so often till it's working.

Why would this impact anything?
