If they are still on spec then they will sound just as good and will help the receiver off some load. If not, you may hear the difference in a negative way, then just disconnect them. I have separates because I had them and they are powerful, need it or not. But the, you should see them all draw the power when they are idling. Needed fans in the cabinet which I should have don so from the start but they still working with all that hot abuse.

Bag the receiver and find yourself a good used Lexicon preamp/processor. My ancient MC-8 V2 kicked the absolute crap out of my flagship Pioneer for sound quality.
