Hi Everyone!

Been a couple years since I last posted but recently decided to get back into the game a bit. My HK AVR 330 was the first piece of decent equipment I bought when I started into this hobby several years ago and it's served me well. However, I decided it was time for an upgrade to something a little more current. I've been using the 330 as a pre/pro for the last several years since I added the Emotiva LPA-1 to my rig. But the budget, as always, is tight. I'm a big fan of bang for buck. So, after a lot of research, including looking at going full seperates, I decided to purchase a Sherwood Newcastle R-972. I found it new for $499 and figured it was too good to pass up. My room is an acoustical nightmare, so I'm hoping this will help that out a bit.

Basically just looking for any opinions on how it will fit in with my current gear and if I got a good deal bang for buck-wise. I know they had some issues early in their release (what doesn't anymore?) but it seems that most of the bugs have been worked out. anyone have any real-world advice on set up and operation that may help?? Thanks!

The 972 is on close-out...
The factory FOB cost is significantly higher than what you paid..
The Trinnov EQ system is very advanced, I hope everything works out for you..

Just my $0.02... ;)

Thanks! I hope so too. This is my first step into real sound/video processing as my H/K is a little old school for any of that. I'm curious to see how the Trinnov room correction works out. I have everything balanced now with a Radio Shack SPL meter but the room design requires i have the mains and TV set up in a corner with off-angle viewing/listening, so even with that, I'm sure there's tons of room for improvment. I've not read a whole lot positive about the Reon video processor in the Sherwood....but seems to at least be on par with the Faroudja chip in my Oppo and in the H/K 3600 that was my second choice.
