I'm looking for a nice receiver, priced around 500-700 that will fit in my small cabinet. The space is a little bit more than 6 inches height.
Does anyone has a good recommendation?

Anyway you would consider putting your stuff in a spare closet, so you don't have to try to find gear based on size? You can still have full control from you main area with the right remote and sensors.

These things generate heat and like open space above to vent it. Otherwise, they might have a very limited ife span.

You also will need at leat 1-2" air clearance, so you real height is limited to 4-5". If the cabinet is closed then 2" is recommended.

Even the smaller, lower end receivers from major brands : Denon, Pioneer, Yamaha and Onkyo receivers are only slightly under 6".

Sorry, I checked for awhile and couldn't find a good solution for you.

Welcome to the forum! There are a number of receivers that are right at or slightly under 6" in height.

Some questions to help us out a bit before making suggestions:
  • Do you have other size restraints other than height, such as width or depth?
  • Are you looking for a surround sound receiver or a stereo receiver?
  • What speakers are you driving with it?
  • What components do you want to connect to the receiver?
In terms of cooling, you could add in active cooling (like a small muffin fan) to get better circulation in an enclosed space.

I suggest a new cabinet. Seriously you can get a nice one with a 200 bucks.
