I have an older receiver ( Kenwood VR-407), everything works but the Dolby Digital. It will not pick up the digital signal and it works fine for other settings. It is an older unit and I am in the process of buying a new receiver in the next couple of weeks, but would still like to salvage this receiver for another room. Any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Cheers!!!!! :)

What's your question? Are you asking if you can get the Dolby Digital repaired? If so, it would probably cost just as much to fix it than to find a used receiver or even buy a new entry level model. You can get a fairly competent receiver for about $200, with DD. One good place to look is Onkyo's website. They have refurbished units for sale that come with a decent warranty. I have seen them under $200 before.

have you determined that the coax or optical cable is not the problem?

Haven't checked the optical cable yet, was just wondering if this a common problem first before I put any money into it. When it is set to Dolby Digital the receiver clicks in and out, its like it is trying to pick up the signal but it won't. It will click in and out for a long time and then I end up just shutting it off. Thanks again.
