I used pioneer vsx-1016 for almost a month, it works very well, but last week, when I was watching a DVD program, the sound from speakers suddenly shut off, it seemed nothing wrong with the receiver itself, because the lights and everything stay the same, but when I switched the remote controller to see what happened, it always showed : phones in, I never plug in the headphone In the receiver, I don’t know what’s happened, then I tried to get a headphone and plug in the phone jack, I can hear the sound, but not from the speakers even I unplug the headphone from the receiver.
could anyone tell me what happened? I tried to search the web site,
There is no solution for that.
Hope you guys could help me for this.

Thanks a lot

Since your cycling a headphone didn't solve the issue, it must be software driven issue. You need to call Pioneer on Tuesday. If under warranty, it may need to be serviced, unless, Pioneer has a reset code for you. That will necessitate recalibrating and resetting it.

Are you sure there isn't anything stuck in the headphone jack that would make the receiver 'think' headphones are plugged in? If not maybe a wire inside connected to the headphone jack is shorting out. Probably going to need to pay a bit for a repair if that's the case but it doesn't seem like anything very serious if the receiver seems to be functioning normally other than that.

I also thought about that, but who knows, it's under warranty, I won't open the cover even I can try to fix that. the problem seems not very big, but it's annoying.

If you are competent to pull the cover, why not. Just unplug the power to it and have a careful look at the headphone jack. Use a magnifier if you have one.

I can think of one reason. If you crack open the case, Pioneer may void your warrantee.

If you have a good doctor friend, maybe their Otoscope will let you look into that headphone jack before pulling the cover:D
Then, you may be called an audio doctor:D

Well I hate to resurrect this thread from the dead but my VSX-1014TX is doing the exact same thing.

What was the solution to the problem?

Thanks
Brad

Try inserting and removing a headphone plug a bunch of times quickly. Inside the female plug there is only a little piece of metal that makes and breaks contact to let the receiver know that phones are plugged in. If that is jammed or has something in it, jiggling things around might loosen it. Also, for future reference, you will know where the problem is in case you need a repair.
