Receiver power outlets? What is safe?

So I hope I don't really suck at the search function, cause I try and use it before I post, but don't come up with anything. Kinda feel bad, been posting a lot of new threads.

Anywho, just got the new (to me) receiver in the mail today. When I wire up this stuff, is it safe to plug in the sub's power cord, meaning electricity, into the outlet on the back of the receiver? I was thinking it might be better to have the sub completely powered off after I'm done with it rather than trusting the standby mode, but I sure don't want to damage anything. I'm assuming its fine to do this with my DVD player.

Anything that does not draw more than about 100 watts. Your DVD player will be fine but the sub definitely not.

Definitely no sub in that outlet, the sub needs to go directly to the wall, or a surger protector.

Ditto on what's already been said. For one your receiver's power outlet won't be able to provide sufficient current to your sub's internal amp. That could negatively affect the performance of both your sub and your receiver and could blow a fuse in the receiver or I suppose even damage it.

I'm not familiar with your particular subwoofer, but many subs have an auto-sensing circuit where they remain in stand-by mode until they sense an audio signal. In other words, they are in stand-by when your receiver is off. If your sub has this, it essentially accomplishes the same goal.
