Hi, is receiver positioning an issue? I mounted mine on its side, will this create issues? (there is space between the wall and the receiver for heat to escape, and a vent at the top)

Heres a picture if im not being clear:
You may shorten the life of the unit, as it was designed to be placed horizontally for heat dissipation, as has already been stated by others. But whether it will matter or not in this case is hard to say. The definitive answer will only be known by trying it out with several units, and compare with a control group of receivers that are run as intended. Since that is not practical, the question is, how lucky do you feel? I personally would place it horizontally on a shelf. If you lack shelf space, you might want to consider buying a taller shelf unit to accommodate all of the equipment you want to use.

Hello im currently considering buying a Receiver and im torn between 2 The Onkyo Txsr875 and the new Sony str-da5300es could i have some impartial advice to which would be the better choice and reasons why if possible many thanks Oh and recommended speakers if possible im thinking

Q Acoustics 1010i 5.1 are they any good? all advice will be welcome

Okay, ill see what i can do with the positioning. This should do for temporary spacing though. Right now its only powering two 40watt (older) speakers.
