Receiver not reading subwoofer

I have a Yamaha RX-V663 receiver hooked up with my cable box, ps3 and 46" LCD Samsung T.V, all with hdmi. I recently purchased a Polk psw10 subwoofer and tried to hook it up with an rca monster cable. I have the cable hooked up in the pre-out sub-woofer 1 on the back of my receiver and in the Left line out on my sub. The receiver does not recognize that the sub exists. I've adjusted the Lfe on my receiver and still get nothing. I've tried sub out 2 and the right out on my sub. The sub is working and I also had my receiver looked at. I think I am missing something simple. I have read the manual front to back, and have done all the manual setup. I've tried every possible hook-up combination. The display on the front of the receiver never shows me a subwoofer is hooked up. Even when I do test tone I get nothing. Could someone please help! I'm open to any suggestions.

I don't know if it's exactly the same on your receiver but the ones I've dealt with, just make sure the fronts are set to "small" and the subwoofer is set to "on" or "yes".

You said the left line out on the sub , you need the left line in or lfe in.
if its out on the receiver its in on the sub.

I have no lfe in on my sub-woofer. Also my receiver has nothing for switching the sub to yes.

Do you have both left input and left output on the sub if so use the input only if left input dont work try the right input on the sub just be sure its the input not the output.

That sub only has input RCA, no output RCA, so I'm sure that connection should be good.

yea, i've tried that, there has got to be something i'm missing. Do u think my settings on my T.V. cable box or Ps3 would have something to do with it? I have 1 HDMI from cable box to my receiver, 1 from my PS3 to my receiver and 1 from my receiver to my T.V.

What do you have the crossover set to on the receiver and what do you have the setting on the sub set to? I'd think if it was an issue with your settings from sources at least one of them would work. Maybe someone with this receiver will chime in later today with first hand experience.

the psw10 does in deed have two rca's in only my mistake sorry ,I was reading speakers in and out ,how about the y adapter to plug both left and right in at the same time I have that on my old sub and it works fine like that but it also works with just the left input also.

Not trying to argue with you, but I'm only seeing speaker level outs on the psw10, not rca line outs.
Yes you are correct I tried to edit before I confused the situation any more but you caught me :D sorry hows the power to the sub all that is good I guess i'm just looking for the simple answers now.Do you have another rca plug try any old one to see if you got a bad sub cable, u never know.

OK, to summarize:

the PSW10 only has L/R RCA inputs - you can use either one.
Turn the Low-pass filter clockwise all the way up
Set the volume/gain control to the 12 o'clock position
For starters set the power switch to on and make sure the LED lights up.

In the receiver:
Set the LFE/Bass out - SWFR pg, 85
All speakers - Small
Cross Over - 80Hz

Verify the speakers/sub is getting a signal by checking channel levels, pg. 87. Test tones need to be on, pg. 88.

We can go from there once you verify you're getting sound out of the sub.

I tried it again, nothin, like the sub doesn't exist. I've tried everything, i've been on page 85 a few times. I know everything works, yamaha even checked my receiver. I hope someone with the same things I have sees my post.

I GOT IT, its alive. I did everything y said, then I used pre out 2 instead of 1 on the receiver. I know i've tried that, but not with the right settings. Thanks to all of u, that was really frustrating.

Good to hear it's working.:D Sounds like the Sub1 pre-out might be bad.:(
