Receiver lagging problems...

Hello. I've browsed these forums looking for an answer to my question, but wasn't able to find one, so hopefully someone here can help me.

I've got a Samsung HL-S4666W 46" DLP HDTV that is connected via red and white AV cables to an old (emphasis on old) Yamaha receiver. I use the receiver mainly for a headphone jack and to play videogames / movies using a pair of Polk Audio speakers.

I've begun to notice lagging, though, when I play movies. I watching Kingdom of Heaven on Blu-Ray on the PS3 and the lagging was real bad - tonight I tried watching Blade Runner and it continued. I tried switiching between the TV speakers and the receiver speakers - the TV matched fine, the receiver did not.

My question is, basically, how should I go about fixing this? The receiver I have is an old Yamaha RX-350 - nothing fancy in the least. Is there a way to fix this, or am I looking at dropping some money on a new receiver?

By "lagging" do you mean that the audio and video are out of sync?

If that's your problem, you'll need a receiver or pre/pro that has a "lip sync" feature. It allows you to adjust the delay between video and audio. Of course, your "old" receiver wont have it.

If you are up for buying a new receiver, poke around for what you like and just make sure it has a "lip sync" control.

Thank you for the reply. Do you have a (cheap) recommendation for a receiver that has this feature?

All the bottom range Yamaha's do this. The RX-V361, V459 & V559. They go for about $200 online.
